Prior to the founding of America, the only other kinds of governments that existed in the world were monarchies, military governments or dictatorships. Then, in the late 18th Century, on American soil, a few notable men gathered to create a nation of free men. A republic—something untried ever before in human history, where men consented to those who governed over them. These men, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams and many others formed our Constitution for the sake of a free people in the summer of 1787. Yes, the Colonists had declared their independence against the strongest nation on earth in 1776 but after winning that war, these loosely, tied-together states were on the verge of self-destruction themselves. These men, with their vast knowledge of history, in-depth studies of prior governments and an understanding of human nature forged one of the greatest documents of all time: our American Constitution. Today, we are familiar with the terms in the Declaration of Independence such as “Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God,” “unalienable Rights,” “consent of the governed” “equal rights” but how were those terms arrived at, why were they chosen, how did they impact the Constitution and are they still valid? If you have an interest in the Founder’s thinking as they wrote the Constitution and how that relates to you as an American 223 years later, please join this 10 week class on Monday nights from 6:30 to 9:00. Using the book The 5000 Year Leap, study questions and DVD presentations, we will learn the 28 principles of our Constitution and how they are as applicable today as they were in 1787. The book and study materials will be included with the cost of your class, but you will also need to bring a 3-ring binder and extra loose-leaf paper. Class size is limited to 12. $59. If you or anyone you know might be interested, please give NCC a call 712.324.5061 Thank you for your concern in our Nation’s Founding and future.

Where is this all going to take our country?

Kitty Werthmann grew up in Austria under the Nazi regime of Adolf Hitler. She has seen firsthand the devastating effects when people elect and put unchecked power into the hands of a few. Come hear Kitty’s story on the eerie similarities between the rise of the Nazi regime in Germany and America today. She will be speaking at the Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon, Iowa on Friday, April 30 at 7:00 pm.

Spencer Tea Party Patriots, along with Sheldon Tea Party Patriots, Storm Lake Tea Party Patriots, Des Moines 912Project, Des Moines Tea Party Patriots, Jones Co. 912 Project, Urbandale SOAR (Suport Our American Republic), Atlantic 912Project,
and Cedar Falls Taking Back America have joined forces to host a Legislative Breakfast in the Des Moines Capitol on Feb. 16th.

The Legislative calendar at the Des Moines Capitol is filled on a daily basis with lobbyist groups hosting breakfasts, lunches and evening receptions. Most notably is the Federation of Labor, an organization representing multiple unions, which hosts a hospitality night bi-weekly while the legislators are in session. Senator
Kibbie’s and Representative Frevert’s endorsement at the January 30th Spencer Eggs & Issues forum, of Collective Bargaining and Fair Share bills (both pro-Union, anti – Right to Work bills) illustrates that lobbying works.

Therefore, Iowa’s freedom groups have decided to band together to host their own breakfast. This is the first time that Tea Party/ 912 Project/Freedom groups from across Iowa have hosted an event together. After the breakfast, the attending representatives from each of the groups will sit down together to network and plan
future strategies. We think working together as a cohesive team will allow us to have more inpact on legislation coming out of the Iowa State capitol. Right now progessive liberals like to dismiss us as radical fringe individuals who do not represent main stream Iowans. Rupublicans like to claim us as a part of their party, but hold us at arms length for fear of us upsetting their moderate agenda

12/28/09 Pleasant Hill, IA – IFPC Action President, Chuck Hurley, today announced plans to launch an initiative in conjunction with the LUV “Let Us Vote” Iowa campaign. The initiative, which is being called “Two Days For Marriage,” will kick off with a gathering at the State Capitol on January 12th.

According to Hurley, “People from all over the state have reached out to IFPC Action, and joined the LUV Iowa Campaign. On January 12th, we are encouraging those people, and all Iowans who care about preserving marriage and the constitutional separation of powers, to come together to take a stand, and once again ask Iowa lawmakers to ‘Let Us Vote’ on the Iowa Marriage Amendment.”

January 12th is the date when Governor Culver is scheduled to deliver his annual Condition of the State address. In addition to all 150 State Legislators, the Iowa Supreme Court Justices also attend the speech.

Hurley said, “We expect the Members of the Iowa Legislature to listen to their constituents and not to stand in the way of our constitutional right to vote on the Iowa Marriage Amendment. Any Member who stands between the people and our right to vote is risking their political future. We will remember in November.”

LUV Iowa is short for Let Us Vote Iowa, www.LUVIowa.com.
